Chess, Part 2

Some haiku fun/collaboration with Yonkaholic based on my post Chess.

*****

I feel death creeping
Playing chess with my shadow
Waiting for checkmate

Three little knight moves
Every player but a pawn
Winner loses all

I have no control
This is but a game of Life
My queen, rescue me

In this current life
We are either kings or pawns
Napoleon said

But I refuse this
I shall come into my own
I refuse to play

Heavy is the hand
That sacrifices the queen
The bishop’s scorched earth

This sick game of thrones
We need not a king to rule
But a pawn to save
