Old Friend

Hello there old friend
I did not recognize you
You have changed so much

Not for the better
Mind you, in fact, for the worse
I don’t know your face

Oh, you were the best
We were inseparable
Running to daylight

Then you met new folk
You’re the company you keep
Dark is contagious

That is what they say
I found it to true with you
Your light faded out

Now you’re gone from me
I know your sweet face no more
A face I had loved

Hello there old friend
You ran away, let go of me
Someone I don’t know
